Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands. Mount Teide
The 3718 metres high Mount Teide is an active volcano that sits atop the highest point in Spain and had last erupted in 1909 AD. Close to it is located the Teide National Park. It is the most visited national park in Europe that is home to some of the invertebrate species that are not found anywhere.
Loro Parque (Parrot Park)
Loro Parque is a large zoo with a wide range of flora and fauna in Tenerife. Central to this park’s reputation are 4000 parrots across 350 species, Europe's largest dolphin show pool and longest shark tunnel, world's largest indoor penguin exhibition and the largest Thai village outside Thailand. Also of note is a large orchid garden with very rare plants.
El Medano (The Sand Dune)
El Medano is a town near the largest natural beaches of Tenerife, the Playa Grande and the Playa Tejita. It is one of the world's best windsurfing and kite surfing sites. Between the beaches is a protected natural reserve near a volcanic cone called La Montana Roja (‘The Red Mountain’).
