Dom Zu Salzburg (Salzburg Cathedral)
Salzburg Cathedral is a 17th century Baroque cathedral of Roman Catholic Archdiocese where Mozart was baptized on 28 January 1756. It was founded on the remains of an old Roman town by Saint Rupert in 774 AD. This church is also famous for its Statues of Four Saints, three bronze gates that depict Faith, Hope and Love as three divine virtues and its oldest, twin 17th century bells.
Salzburg Residenz (Salzburg Residence)
First mentioned in 1232 AD and then renovated in 1596 AD, the Salzburg Residenz is a former palace of city's Archbishops. It is hallmarked by a stunning show of Baroque and Neo-Classical architecture. It has been turned into a museum and is best known for Residenzgalerie, an arts gallery here that has a number of 16th to 19th century Austrian paintings.
Residenzplatz (the Residence Place)
Residenzplatz is a large square in the heart of Salzburg. It is hallmarked by a grand 17th century baroque fountain called Residenzbrunnen which is made of marble and is considered to be the biggest baroque fountain in Middle Europe. This square is at its supreme best in July and August when it is transformed into an open-air museum to show taped performances to the public.
